Well done, Mr Hill!

Mr Hill was a finalist in the Children, Young People, Education and Skills 'Our Star' awards.

Here is his nomination:

Mr Hill goes above and beyond for the children in our school, reflecting the government values and the school values in everything he does. He delivers exceptional service, from maintaining the building to creating innovative storage solutions. His teamwork extends past his core business of caretaker and he supports teachers with DT and woodwork projects, helping the children to master skills. When doing the road crossing, he knows the names of the toddlers and even the dogs, demonstrating the culture of inclusivity we have at Les Landes - he makes everyone feel like they belong.  He consistently strives to make our school a place where we all are proud to work and learn.

Mr Hill cares about our school and the people who make our community the special place that it is. If a child arrives at school with a puncture, Mr Hill will fix it for them during the school day.  If their chain has come off, he will teach them how to put it back on so that they can fix it themselves next time.  He supports our school football club and helped our team win the Minor Cup last season. He has also been known to run a lunchtime club, introducing children to the game of golf. He helps Reception class with their woodwork and supported Engineering Club with STEM projects last year.

Mr Hill is the first person to greet children when they arrive in the morning and the last person to see them as they leave.  By embodying the core values, he gives a very clear message to the community that 'this is what we do here'; we are respectful, we work together, we strive to be and do the best we can and we are a team. He reminds us all that we are here to make a difference. Mr Hill is our star and we would like to acknowledge the difference he makes to our children and our school.
