Geography
The study of geography is about more than just memorising places on a map. It’s about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it’s about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together. Barak Obama
At Les Landes we aim to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Geography can inspire children to think about their own place in the world, their values, and their rights and responsibilities to other people and the environment. Within our Geography curriculum, we seek to equip children with the skills, knowledge and understanding they need to think creatively and critically, to investigate and to ask questions to enable them to gain a greater understanding, knowledge and appreciation of the world and their place in it. Through provoking questions about the diversity of the natural and human worlds, we enable children to be open-minded and inquisitive, developing tolerance, respect and compassion towards their global community. Our children will become active citizens, growing up to understand that as individuals they can have a positive impact on our planet.
