School Fundraising

At Les Landes, we are guided by our core value of community, encouraging our pupils to become compassionate individuals who understand the power of giving back. Our school community comes together regularly to support a wide range of charitable causes, both locally and globally, and we are proud of the impact we have made.

In 2024, we focused our fundraising efforts on supporting a number of incredible charities:

  • Children in Need: Helping children and young people in the UK who are facing disadvantage.
  • Save the Children: Providing vital aid and support to children around the world in times of crisis.
  • Just One Tree: Planting trees to combat climate change and promote a sustainable future.
  • Kafunjo Community Project: Supporting education and community development in rural Uganda.
  • Battersea: Rescuing and re-homing animals, giving them a chance at a better life.
  • Macmillan Jersey: Providing support and care for individuals and families affected by cancer in Jersey.
  • Little Feet Environmental: Promoting environmental sustainability and supporting eco-conscious initiatives within Jersey and beyond.
  • British Red Cross: Offering disaster relief and assisting communities in need across the globe.

These initiatives reflect key principles outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), which ensures the rights of children globally. Through these fundraising efforts, our students are actively engaging in promoting these rights, including:

  • Article 2 - Non-Discrimination: We ensure that all children, regardless of background, have access to support and care, such as those provided by Macmillan Jersey, British Red Cross, and Save the Children, which assist children and families facing illness, disasters, and crises.
  • Article 3 - Best Interests of the Child: We work toward ensuring the welfare of every child, as demonstrated in our support for Battersea, which advocates for the well-being of animals, and through our contributions to environmental organisations like Little Feet Environmental, which aims to protect the future of the planet for children everywhere.
  • Article 6 - Life, Survival, and Development: By supporting causes like The British Red Cross and Kafunjo Community Project, we contribute to safeguarding the lives and futures of children in vulnerable communities, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive.
  • Article 24 - Health and Health Services: Our partnership with Macmillan Jersey directly reflects this article, as we aim to improve access to healthcare and support for children and families impacted by cancer.

Through these initiatives, our pupils not only raise vital funds but also gain valuable lessons in empathy, teamwork, and social responsibility—qualities that reflect the spirit of the UNCRC.

Looking ahead to 2025, House Captains will be nominating new charities to support, and we are excited to see which causes will inspire them to make a difference in the year to come.

Thank you for being part of the Les Landes School community. Your support has helped us create positive change, and together, we will continue to make a lasting impact on the world around us.
