About Us
Welcome to our school website. It is my privilege, as Headteacher, to welcome you to our site.
Les Landes is an inclusive, non-selective single form entry school with classes from Reception to Year 6. We currently have 164 pupils on roll. Our catchment area serves much of the Parish of St Ouen but the easterly boundary is shared with St Mary.
Les Landes is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Our ethos
Les Landes is part of a strong community in St Ouen, and the community aspect of the school is a strength. We are committed to, and pride ourselves on, a wide range of achievements. These include sports, outdoor learning and the creative arts. Our Core Values of Community, Achievement and Pride reflect our passion for learning and high aspirations for every child. We promote positive mental health and well-being alongside dispositions and skills such as creativity, confidence, critical thinking, collaboration and resourcefulness so that our pupils leave Les Landes well-equipped for the next stage in their learning journey. We have a flag which hangs above the entrance to the school which reads 'All different, all equal'. This reflects our school's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Our learning environment
The school is set in beautiful surroundings, adjacent to fields and St George’s Church. On site, we have a large garden with a poly tunnel, raised beds, a mud kitchen and a fire pit. Our field has a petanque terrain and playground equipment. Learning beyond the classroom, and indeed beyond the school, is important to us so that pupils benefit from the rich culture and history that Jersey has to offer.
United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child
Our vision is underpinned by the UNCRC, particularly Articles 28 and 29. Every child has the right to an education. Education must develop every child's personality, talents and abilities to the full.
If you would like to know more about our school, please do get in touch via the ‘Contact Us’ section of this website.
