P.S.H.E.

At Les Landes School, we believe that a strong PSHE education is important to help our pupils to become confident, independent, responsible citizens, who are able to make a positive contribution to their community. We want to empower children with the knowledge, skills and values needed to thrive in this diverse and ever-changing world. Our school is guided by our core values of Community, Achievement and Pride, and we believe in fostering a strong sense of community where every member is respected, supported and included. We also recognise that personal development plays a significant role in children’s ability to learn and achieve. We want our children to leave Les Landes with a good understanding of who they are and how they relate to the wider world. Through the explicit teaching of mental and emotional health, we promote pupils’ wellbeing through an understanding of their own and others’ emotions and the development of healthy coping strategies. Pupil voice is at the heart of our school, and our vision is to ensure that all children feel that their ideas are listened to and taken seriously.

At Les Landes, we use the JIGSAW scheme to deliver the PSHE curriculum, which ensures a consistent and progressive approach to PSHE education, as well as Relationships and Sex Education. We have a strong commitment to promoting children’s rights, and our practice is underpinned by the United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child. We aim to provide a safe and inclusive environment for our children, where they can develop a deep understanding of personal wellbeing, social responsibility, health and economic literacy. We hope that the children who leave our school are equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to live healthy, safe, fulfilled and responsible lives, both now and in the future.
