Art Eisteddfod News
UNCRC Article # 13 & 29
Congratulations to the children whose art work was selected for this year's Eisteddfod. In addition to some fantastic certificates, the school was awarded the overall prize for the best 3d entry. Phoebe's 2d artwork was also selected as the best piece based on an artist. Art is a strength of our school; we have a strong progression of skill and a rich and challenging curriculum. Thanks to Mrs Price who leads art across the school and Mrs Courtness for managing the Eisteddfod entries. We will display the work in school so that you have the opportunity to enjoy it next term.
British Science Week
UNCRC Article # 28 & 29
Mrs Hopkins has led Science groups every day this week, to acknowledge British Science Week, and every child has had the opportunity to participate. Following this, there will be more opportunities next term so that children have the chance to earn a certificate as part of a nationally recognised award. More details after Easter!
The Crocs are back on the road and we have had a very positive turnout. If you would like to join the Cycle Crocodile or you feel you may be able to support in a leadership role, please pop into the school office and register your interest. We will run the Croc every Tuesday and Wednesday, but keep an eye on the FB page in case the forecast is bad.
Swimarathon
Year 5 and 6 have been swimming at the Lions Swimarathon this afternoon and have swam 191 laps raising over £600 for local charities. This year the focus is on charities providing outdoor wellbeing and therapy projects, and links to our core values of community, achievement and pride.
Les Landes has been awarded Silver Status for our Philosophy for Children work, with SAPERE P4C. The award recognises and celebrates our development of a high quality P4C practice as integral to the school's ethos, curriculum and values. We are the only Jersey school to be accredited to this level.
Today Year 5 and 6 had the opportunity to dust for finger prints like detectives.
Year 1 and 2 went on a hunt for mini-beasts and surveyed the number that they found.
