Honorary Police notice
St Ouen's Honorary Police have placed cones to prohibit parking on junctions and at narrow parts of the lanes. They have informed me that from next week, if cars are parked where the cones are, they will be booking cars. As a school, this is not what we want. Please try to park safely, even if it takes you a few minutes to go round the block.

House Reward
The pebbles have been counted for the first half term and the winners are Grosnez, with 562 pebbles. The children in Grosnez house have voted for a non-uniform day as their house reward and this will be next Thursday 24th October.

Uniform reminder
There are several children wearing trainers instead of school shoes and coloured and branded sports socks with their school uniforms. After half term we will be sending parents an email to inform you that your child is not in correct uniform and asking you to rectify this. As I explained at Meet the Teacher, uniform is a leveller. Please talk to your child's class teacher if there is a reason for non-compliance with uniform expectations.

Girls Football Opportunity
Message from Julie Simon, St Ouen's FC Girls
Earlier this year St Ouens Football Club started our first ever girls only football sessions and they have proved very popular. We now regularly have 20+ girls attending sessions, most of whom hadn’t tried football before joining us. We are looking to recruit girls in school years 4 – 7 and are especially keen to hear from girls in years 6 and 7 as we try to build a team in this age group. We are running some free open sessions at Les Quennevais School on Saturdays throughout November. We would love for any girls who might be interested to come along and give football a try. No previous football knowledge or experience necessary and we welcome players from all across the island. We understand that trying new things can be tricky, so why not bring a friend along too.
If you are interested, please email or WhatsApp Julie 07797767545

One Tree thank you
UNCRC Article #29
Thank you for signing up to support the One Tree initiative. The children have supported the initiative by adding their thumb print to the large tree we have prepared. This £185 raised will purchase trees in the rainforest, adding to the 815 we have already planted.

Lost property
We have a large amount of lost property which has accumulated this half term and none of it is named. Please come in if you are missing something, it will all go to the second hand uniform shed next month. If you buy something from the shed and it has the name of a child in it, please replace the name with your child's name.

Rights Respecting Reaccreditation
UNCRC Article 42
This week, the UK assessor visited us to look at our evidence for retaining Gold status. It's a great opportunity to share our practice and reflect on our Rights Respecting journey and how it has progressed in the three years since achieving Gold status in 2021. It's a huge amount of work, coordinated superbly by Miss McMenamin and we will share the report with you once we receive it.

Save the date
Our school has been invited to be part of the Jersey Hospice Carol Service on Sunday 8th December at 3pm at St Andrew's Church. Our choir (Y4-6) will sing a number of carols and Y6 will lead the readings. The children will also help to serve mince pies in the church hall after the service. It's a privilege to be asked to support such an important charity in our community and we are already preparing for it!
